DENNIS PRAGER
Dear Friends:
I love my listener
cruises.
We go to the most
exciting, exotic places on earth and we do it in style on the best
ships.
The towering glaciers of Antarctica, the deep green jungles
of the Amazon, the baby powder beaches of the South Pacific islands,
and the magnificent Taj Mahal in India are only a of the few places
we’ve visited.
But it’s a big world
and there’s a lot to see. So, get ready for something truly
memorable.
This year we’re going
to Africa: Kenya, Zanzibar, Madagascar and finishing in the
exquisite Seychelles Islands.
This promises to be one of the most fascinating, colorful and
adventure-filled trips I’ve ever done. I’ve been to Kenya and it’s
an amazing place to visit. To be so close to the wild life is
something you never forget. But Zanzibar, Madagascar and the
Seychelles, reputed to be the most beautiful islands in the world,
are all new to me.
There’s so much to see and explore in all these places. What a great
excuse for me to buy a new camera lens!
The cruise itself
will, I know, be fantastic, but we’re offering a lot more, if you’re
interested: a
pre-cruise safari in Kenya and a post-cruise safari in South Africa.
These will be top-of-the-line, expert-led expeditions!
We’ll be cruising on
my favorite line, Silversea. This is our third Silversea cruise and
each one has been superb in every respect – the ship, the veranda
staterooms, the service, and one additional feature I really like –
no tipping. It’s built into the fare.
Oh yeah, I almost
forgot, I’ll be giving four lectures on the ship. We’ll really get a
chance to interact and to discuss the great issues of life, both
macro and micro.
And the very best
feature of the cruise is not even on the itinerary. I’m talking
about the Prager listeners you’ll meet -- wonderful, like-minded
people who share your values. I’m very proud of the enduring
friendships that are made during these trips.
I hope you can join
me. I know it’s going to be a meaningful experience for all of us,
and great fun, too!
Sincerely,
Dennis Prager

Exciting new updates scheduled for the elegant SILVER WIND
in 2008
Silversea Cruises announced that the Silver Wind is to receive major enhancements without losing her intimacy or charm.
Plans call for major suite upgrades, including new bathrooms,
carpets, flat screen TVs and other appointments. The verandas
will be spruced up,
and virtually all public spaces and corridors will see
substantial enhancements to furnishings and carpets.
Most dramatic of the upgrades, however, will be the addition of
a new ocean-view spa and fitness center on Deck 9, a new
Observation Lounge, eight new large suites on Decks 7 and 8,
reduction of Vista Suites on Deck 4, and a new guest elevator
connecting Decks 8 and 9.
Be among the first to experience “the new Silver Wind.”
PORTS OF CALL
Mombasa, Kenya
Mombasa, often called the Gateway to Kenya, is the country’s
most historic city and the largest port
on Africa’s
Coral Coast.
Located on Mombasa Island, the city can be traced back to the
11th century.
Lamu, Kenya
Lamu is Kenya's oldest town and one of the original Swahili
settlements that stretched from Somalia to Mozambique.
The architecture is uniquely Swahili with its narrow, winding
streets that will accommodate only pedestrians or donkeys. Many
of the 19th-century mansions with carved doors are still
standing.
Zanzibar, Tanzania
Zanzibar, known as the Spice Island, is separated from mainland
Tanzania by a 22-mile-wide channel. The island’s main
town,
Stone Town
or Zanzibar
Town, on the west coast has been declared a UNESCO World
Heritage
Center. The different
nationalities that have settled in
Zanzibar
over the centuries have left a distinct mark on its people and
architecture. Of special
note are the ornate wooden doors and intricately carved
balconies. Walking through the narrow streets of Stone Town the
visitor catches a glimpse of the town’s exotic life.
Nosy Be / Nosy Komba, Madagascar
Nosy Be, meaning Big Island in the Malagasy language, lies just
a stone's throw off Madagascar's northwest coast. It is a
remote and exotic destination. With its deserted beaches, rustic
hotels and unhurried pace, it attracts travelers looking for a
laid-back vacation. The fertile island is the center for the
production of perfume essence from the ylang-ylang trees. The
heady scent of their flowers gave Nosy Be the name "Perfumed
Isle."
Assumption Island, Seychelles
Considered one of the Outer Seychelles Islands, Assumption is
part of the Aldabra Group, lying approximately 600 miles
(960 km) southwest
of Mahe, in the Indian Ocean.
Assumption is a rough and arid island, shaded only by shrubs and
palm
trees but is redeemed by a spectacular reef with huge coral
heads and a white ocean floor. Jacques Cousteau said he'd
never seen any other place on earth with same clarity of water
or diversity of reef life.
Mahe, Seychelles
Like jade-colored jewels in the Indian Ocean, the more than 100
Seychelles Islands are often regarded as the Garden
of Eden. Mahe is the largest
island in the archipelago and the location of the capital,
Victoria. Ringed by steep, magnificent
mountains, few capitals can claim a more beautiful backdrop. The
town features a mixture of modern and indigenous
architecture; it is the center of business and commerce thanks
to the extensive port facilities.
